Q: Should I use my can opener to cut around the rim or down into the rim?

Q: Should I use my can opener to cut around the rim or down into the rim?A: Actually, there are specific can openers that are meant to cut around the rim, leaving the sharp edge on the can itself (the blade goes around the outside of the rim). And there are can openers that cut down into the rim, leaving the sharp edge on the lid (these cut through the lid of the can, as opposed to on the side). The problem is, both of these types of can openers look the same. Make sure you know which type you are buying (the latter type is more common).
